Bogota/ Colombia

I m in Bogota since 2 days and so happy to have so good friends. When I told Esperanza, who was my spanish teacher in Germany, that I will travel to her country and home town, she called her niece Andrea in Bogota and asked her to show me the town and help me.

I met Andrea yesterday and she brought me to the old town, helped me to get a phonecard and to use the TransMilenio, a very clever bussystem in Bogota what workes like a subway.
Its so good to have somebody when you are the first time in a country and even I traveled already a lot it would be much more difficult for me without Anreas help.

And Esperanza: we where eating Ajiaco… very good!!!! For everybody else: Ajiaco is a soup from chicken, potato, corn served with rice.

The first two days I stayed in a nice hotel outside the center owned by two brothers who made my stay very comfortable and helped with lots of information.
But because its more convenient to live in the center I changed today and stay now in a big and actually nice hostel. Its more made for Israelis because all information are also in hebrew so I was hoping to meet some Israelis but it seems I m the only guest in the hostel what makes it a bit scary.
Anyway, I plan to go out later so I have to upload quick some photos:

This is Andrea with her beautiful 3 months old daughter.

The Plaza de Bolivar with the Capitolio Nacional and the Palacio de Justicia around.

The Cadedral Primada

Who guess what are these?

The feets of the Llama and his owner. I dont know, why the Llama wears only shoes at the back feets.

This is the Plazoleta de Chorro Quevedo. Its told that this is the oldest part of Bogota.

The area called la Candelaria and its the old town of Bogota full of small streets, nice and cheap restaurants and lots of funny graffiti on the walls.

This was a street market, but have a look at the back. On the top is the Cerro de Monserrate. Its a church at the mountain, 3152m high. Its possible to go there by cable car (or walk).

And this is La Candelaria from above.

This is Bogota, only from here one can see, how big this town is.

And here some more street scene from Bogota:
